OBITUARY - GLADYS KIBURZ, Afton

AFTON - Gladys KIBURZ, who was a teacher and school superintendent, died at 5 p.m. Thursday in her Afton home.

Services for Mrs. KIBURZ, 79, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stroud-Lindsay Funeral Home in Afton. The Rev. Charles TERRELL of the Nain Lutheran Church at Newell will A family night has been set for 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tingley Cemetery.

Mrs. KIBURZ was born Feb. 2, 1901, in Nevada to Alfred and Florence (ALLEN) BOLLER. She married Isaac KIBURZ June 1, 1923, in Nevada. He died in 1954.

Mrs. KIBURZ taught in Tingley, Elkhart, Conway, Orient and Arispe. She was superintendent of schools in Tingley; county superintendent at Lucas County, ans special education supervisor for Sac, Buena Vista and Ida Counties and for the Headstart program in Southwest Iowa.

She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Drake University in Des Moines. Mrs. KIBURZ moved to Afton in 1958.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the State Federated Garden Club of Iowa, as well as past president of that garden club. Mrs. KIBURZ was a flower judge throughout the U.S.

Her survivors include: two sons, Kenneth KIBURZ of Shannon City and John KIBURZ of Tingley; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Allen BOLLER of Atlantic and Jack BOLLER of Waterloo; three sisters, Lorella (Mrs. Bill) MAURER of Ames, Betty (Mrs. Ralph) LEHMAN of Collins and June (Mrs. Charles) TERRELL of Newell.

Besides her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
