OBITUARY - MARGARET (SHAY) KETTLE

Margaret KETTLE, 74, of Creston, Iowa passed away April 17, 2009, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at Powers Funeral Home junction of Highways 34 & 25 in Creston. Pastor Jim GUBSER will officiate the service.

Burial will be at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr.

Visitation with family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. service time Monday, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left under the obituary category at www.powersfh.com

Margaret Rose (SHAY) KETTLE, daughter of Winifred Blanch (HUBBARD) and John Clemet SHAY, was born in 1934, near Maloy, Ia. She graduated from Blockton High School, and was the youngest of five children.

On September 19, 1952, Margaret married Dale Henry KETTLE in St. Joseph, Mo. They settled in the Blockton area and began farming. In 1968 they moved to Maryville, Mo. where she worked at Northwest Missouri State University as the food service manager. In 1971 they returned to Blockton to farm before moving to Mt. Ayr where she worked in a dress shop. In 1974 they moved to Knoxville to resume her career in food service as the dietary supervisor at the hospital. Later they moved to the Pheonix and Sedona, Ariz. areas to be a park manager. Then they moved to Des Moines where they worked as managers of condominium complexes. After retiring in 1999, they moved to Creston.

Survivors include her husband, Dale KETTLE; her daughter, LuAnn KETTLE of Des Moines; two brothers: John (wife Jean) SHAY of Wimberly, Texas and Thomas (wife Helen) SHAY of Des Moines; two sisters: Catherine MULCAHY of Brentwood, Calif. and Marilyn SHAY of San Marcos, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Margaret was loved by all that knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.
