OBITUARY - LOUISE (SLAVIK) KESSLER

Louise KESSLER, 92, of Diagonal died September 24, 2004, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at United Church of Diagonal. The Rev. Eydie STEPHENS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Bohemian Cemetery, southeast of Diagonal. There is open visitation after 11 a.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Diagonal. Memorials may be directed to Diagonal Dollars for Scholars or United Church of Diagonal.

Mrs. KESSLER, daughter of Mary T. (JEZEK) and Joseph SLAVIK, was born September 17, 1912, in Diagonal. She graduated from Diagonal High School in 1930 and attended Drake University in Des Moines. On June 3, 1936, she married A. J. "Buck" KESSLER in Omaha, Neb. She taught school in Diagonal several years. She was a member of the former Presbyterian Church in Diagonal, United Church of Diagonal, Legion Auxiliary, Iowa State Teachers Association, Miriam Circle and Central Committee for the Diagonal Centennial in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene (husband Dick) TEPLY of Diagonal and Sue (husband Bob) BEEMER of Laramie, Wyo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband April 26, 2004; three brothers, Richard, Raymond and Earl SLAVIK; and three sisters, Erma Jo FINE, Rosalie JOHNSON and an infant sister.
