The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1926

DEATH of LESTER KELSEY.

The body of Lester KELSEY, who died at the University hospital in Iowa City Friday, was brought to Mount Ayr Saturday evening and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the United Presbyterian church. The service was conducted by Rev. Ross WILLIAMS, pastor of the Church of Christ, assisted by Rev. W. L. THORNBURG, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. Six of the boyhood friends of the deceased served as pall bearers.

Walter Lester KELSEY, son of D. N. KELSEY, was born September 3, 1908, at Albion, Iowa, and died at the University hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, December 17, 1926, at the age of 18 years, three months and 13 days. Most of his life was spent in Mount Ayr, where he united with the Church of Christ when he was thirteen years of age. His illness covered a period of three months about about a week before his death was taken to the hospital in the hope that treatment there would restore his health, but he continued to grow weaker and the end came Friday.

He was preceded in death by his father six yeras ago and his mother died about a year ago. he is survived by six sisters - Mrs. Blanche RUNDEL and Mrs. Josie SKINNER of Albany, Mo., Mrs. Nellie FINLEY of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Illa PRICE of Fargo, N.D., Mrs. Nettie BROWN of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Mrs. Charlotte MICHAEL.

Lester was very patient through all his long sickness, always being content with what was boing done for him and never a word of complaint.

He was of a loving dispositon and was loved by every one of his small nieces and nephews, who were always delighted when he came to see them.

NOTE: D. N. KELSEY, father of Walter "Lester", was born on February 8, 1867, and died on December 6, 1920. Infant daughter KELSEY was born and died on May 18, 1911. Both interments at Rose Hill Cemtery where Walter "Lester" KELSEY was interred.
