OBITUARY ~ MINNIE B. (NORTON) KEENAN

Last Wednesday morning this community was shocked by the learning of the sudden death of Mrs. Minnie B. Keenan. Mrs. Keenan was one of the pioneers of the community and will be missed very much by her many friends.

Minnie B., daughter of M.K. and Rebekah Norton, was born in Brown county, Illinois, July 28, 1885. She was the youngest of a family of 6 children. Two brothers and three sisters, all who have preceded her in death except one sister, Mary Jane Cowell of Dewey, Okla.

She moved with her parents to Ringgold county in 1869 and ever since has resided in the vicinity of Blockton. She was married to John P. Keenan, Feb. 18, 1884. To this union was born one son Hugh M. who died at the age of 11 months. Her husband preceded her in death October 14, 1916.

In her early years she became a member of the Baptist church, and later united with the Christian church and continued a faithful and devoted member. Her passing occurred on Mar. 31, 1943 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Funeral services were held at the home on Friday, April 2, 1943, conducted by E. E. String, fellow of Des Moines. Interment was at Blockton cemetery.
