The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1923

OBITUARY.

Wilmena Christina SCHLOBOHM, daughter of Henry and Anna SCHLOBOHM, was born March 23, 1948 (sic), and passed from this life September 8, 1923, age seventy-five years, four months and fifteen days.

In June, 1863, she was united in marriage to Henry MILLER at Wheeling, W. Va. To this union one daughter was born who died in infancy. Five years later Mr. MILLER was killed in a railroad accident.

In the spring of 1881 with her parents she moved to Guthrie county, Iowa, and on July 20, of the same year was married to Geo. W. JORDAN. Then in 1896 they came to Ringgold county, where they lived very happily. On October 24, 1923 (sic), he was called to the great beyond.

In early life she was converted and joined the Lutheran church of which she was a member until 1904, when she became a member of the M. E. church, living a devoted christian life.

At this time her brother, Chris, came to live with her until called by death on September 1, 1921. Since this time she has made her home with her stepson and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. John [Presley] JORDAN, where she was tenderly cared for until her dear Savior called her home.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Middle Fork church, conducted by Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, pastor of the Mount Ayr Methodist church, and interment was in Middle Fork cemetery.

NOTE: George W. JORDAN, Wilmena's second husband, was born May 20, 1829 in Keith, Noble County, Ohio, the son of Elijah and Mary (LEGG) JORDAN. He married first Serena (DELANCY) June 5, 1854, Noble County, Ohio. George died in Mount Ayr on October 24, 1903 and was interred at Middle Fork Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
