DEATH of E. T. JORDAN

E. T. Jordan gravestone.jpg Death claimed another aged and respected citizen of Ringgold county Monday morning when E. T. JORDAN passed away at his home in west Mount Ayr. He had been in feeble health for several months, having suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago, from which he never fully recovered.

Mr. JORDAN was a man of fine character, quiet and unassuming in manner. He was ever interested in the work of the church and faithful in attendance upon the church services. He was a good citizen, a kind neighbor and a true friend. He was born in Noble county, Ohio, October 19, 1854, and died in Mount Ayr, Iowa, July 18, 1927, aged 72 years, eight months and 19 days. In the year 1866, when he was twelve years of age, the family moved from Ohio to Guthrie county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and on June 28, 1874, he was united in marriage with Miss Malinda J. COLEMAN, who died June 4, 1822. He is survived by five children, L. E. JORDAN of Los Angeles, Calif, Mrs. A. B. CLEWELL of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. J. G. BARRETT of Wauchula, Fla., Mrs. J. E. ROE of Stuart, Iowa, and Roy C. JORDAN of Burlington, Wash.

Mr. JORDAN was united in marriage with Mrs. Martha MORRIS September 22, 1924, since which time he had made his home in Mount Ayr.

When a young man Mr. JORDAN was converted and united with the Baptist church, of which he was a faithful and devoted member at the time of his death. Previous to coming to Mount Ayr he resided in Kellerton, where he held membership in the Christian church.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in this city Tuesday forenoon, being conducted by the pastor, Dr. William J. COULSTON, and burial was in the cemetery at Stuart, Iowa, where Mr. JORDAN lived for several years before coming to Ringgold county.

M. J. Jordan gravestone.jpg NOTE: Elvin Tilton JORDAN was interred by his first wife, Malinda Jane (COLEMAN) at Oak Grove Cemetery, Stuart, Guthrie County, Iowa. Malinda Jane (COLEMAN) JORDAN was born on January 26, 1860, and died on June 4, 1922.
