OBITUARY - THOMAS T. "TIM" JOHNSTON

Cpl. Johnston.jpg Thomas T. "Tim" JOHNSTON, 66, of 49 Oak Drive, Fort Madison, Iowa, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack, Wednesday afternoon, July 6, 1988, at his home.

Mr. JOHNSTON was born October 28, 1921, at Diagonal, Iowa, and had lived in Fort Madison 26 years. He was a retired employee of the J.I. Case Co. of Burlington with 23 years of service. He was an Army Air Force Veteran of World War II.

On June 18, 1950, at Mount Ayr, Iowa, he married Alice L. BOWEN, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Ted JOHNSTON; daughter-in-law, Joan (RICHARDS) JOHNSTON; and two grandsons, Todd and Nicholas JOHNSTON, all of Fort Madison; two brothers, Richard Y. "Dick" JOHNSTON, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and William E. "Bill" JOHNSTON, Bedford, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace A. JOHNSTON and Martha J. (YOUNG) JOHNSTON; two brothers and a sister.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. July 9, 1988, at the King-Lynk Funeral Home, with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.

Tim was a partner with his father and brother, Bob, in the JOHNSTON Motor Company in Mount Ayr and Diagonal from 1950 to 1962. Prior to that he was a partner with two of his brothers, Dick and Bill, in a farm machinery business in Bedford from 1947 to 1950.

A devoted husband and father, a proud and faithful specatator at grandsons Todd and Nicholas' athletic events, and a dedicated Chicago Cub fan, Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
