OBITUARY - ROLLAND DAVID JOHNSTON

BENNETT, Iowa - Rolland David JOHNSTON, 86, Bennett died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following complications of a stroke.

Services are at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. The Rev. Barbara BOYRUM will officiate. Burial will be at Inland Cemetery in Bennett. Pallbearers are Bob GLAZER, Mike SIEVERS, Dean HERMISTON, Rex WALTERS, George MARTIN and Dwain FORD.

Mr. JOHNSTON was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Ellston, the son of Charles Wesley and Mable Anna (GARLAND) JOHNSTON. He married Grace Margaret BLAIR June 12, 1938, in Davenport. She preceded him in death Nov. 8, 1997.

He was a 1930 graduate of Ellston High School and attended Iowa State University. He was a member of the Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett. He retired from farming in 1984.

Survivors include Patricia Lynne SIEVERS and her husband, Galen, of Tipton; a son, David B. JOHNSTON and his wife, Carol, of Newton; five grandchildren, Lisa SIEVERS Lewis, Ellen SIEVERS HERMISTON, Michael SIEVERS, Laurie JOHNSTON and Nicole JOHNSTON; and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Andrew HERMISTON and Aric and Trey SIEVERS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Marjorie Kay JOHNSTON; two brothers, Raymond and Harold JOHNSTON; and a sister, Wanda WALTERS.
