OBITUARY - DONALD "DOC" JOHNSTON, Winterset

WINTERSET - Donald "Doc" JOHNSTON, 57, of Winterset, died Tuesday, March 29, 1989, of a heart attack at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. John SHAULL of Winterset will officiate with burial in the Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mr. JOHNSTON was born May 12, 1931, in Tingley to James Avery and Agnes Mae (REYNOLDS) JOHNSTON. They moved to Winterset in 1941. He married Wanda BEARD of Winterset on Nov. 22, 1949, in Creston. He was retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation maintenance garage in Winterset.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Winterset; four sons, Dick of Creston, and James, Thomas and Larry JOHNSTON of Winterset; two brothers, Duane of Council Bluffs and Delbert JOHNSON of Winterset; four sisters, Roberta TODD of Denver, Colo., and Anna COLLINS, Lucy SMITH and Sharon CLYDE, all of Winterset; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
