OBITUARY - MARIE (MILLER) JETER
Marie MILLER JETER, daughter of Joseph and Anna (WHEATLEY) MILLER, was born October 2, 1923 at the family farm
west of Mount Ayr, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday evening, February 23, 2005 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehab
Marie graduated from Mount Ayr High School with the class of 1942. She taught country school for
one year after which she followed Jim, her high school sweetheart, to several army camps where he was
stationed. Upon their return to Mount Ayr they were united in marriage at Albany, Mo., on October 8, 1943.
Jim was then sent overseas with the Quarter Master Corps to the Philippine Islands. When he returned they
made their home in Mount Ayr and Jim worked at the dry cleaners, a trade he learned during high school. Jim
and Marie were blessed with four children: Marilyn, Beverly, Jim and Joe.
For two spring seasons Jim went south to train for and play pro-baseball. After the birth of their second
daughter they decided Jim needed to be closer to home and they moved to Bedford where he operated and later
bought the Bedford Cleaners.
All of the children attended and graduated from Bedford schools except Joe. Jim and Marie sold the Bedford
Cleaners and moved to Tarkio, Mo., where Joe finished his high school education.
Marie was the youngest of the family of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim,
five sisters, three brothers, and also by ten brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
Marie and Jim were Baptists and they enjoyed taking their children to church and Sunday school. They enjoyed
raising and loving their children. Marie enjoyed making quilts and afghans for her loved ones. She also
enjoyed the companionship of many special friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children and spouses: Marilyn Alexander, Bedford, Ia, Beverly (Duane) Swanson, Colorado Springs, Co, Jim F. Jeter, Kansas City, Mo, and Joe Jeter, Scottsbluff, Ne; eight grandchildren and spouses: Eric Hennegin, Zachary Hennegin, TJ (Ashley) Hennegin, Travis (Jayne) Hennegin, Matt (Shannon) Swanson, Mindy (Heath) Buster, Jessica Houston, and Nate Jeter; four great grandchildren: Jarrett, Paige, Hope, and Hunter.

DeHASS officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Bedford Fairview
Cemetery Road Fund. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
