The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1927

OBITUARY - MRS. LUCINDA JENNINGS.

Lucinda ROOT, daughter of Thomas and Harriet ROOT, was born in Summet, Ohio, November 6, 1841, and died at the home of her son, Lee, at Maloy, Iowa, November 30, 1927, at the age of 86 years and 24 days.

She came to Iowa in a covered wagon when she was ten years old. On March 12, 1862, she was united in marriage to Allen JENNINGS, who preceded her in death August 21, 1900. To this union eight children were born, six boys and two girls, Douglas, of Watertawn (sic), S. D.; Lewis, of Detroit, Mich.; Charlie, of Redding, Iowa; Lee, of Maloy, Iowa; George, of Grant City, Mo.; Mrs. Mary SHAW, of Redding, Iowa, and Mrs. Emma HUMPHRESS, and Emmet who have passed on to the great beyond.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church and was a true and faithful christian till her death. She was a loving mother and a true and devoted friend, always ready and willing to help those in need.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss, sixty-one grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

"Mother was called to rest by the Lord above,
Because of his truth and Fatherly love,
She's in that land where Angels sing
Where peace and joy and blessings bring.
The earthly joys have passed away,
In a vision we hear an angel say,
'All is sunshine, no burden to bear.'"

Funeral was held at the United Presbyterian church at Redding, December 2, conducted by Rev. T. S. RHOADES, assisted by Rev. AMACK, and burial was in Redding cemetery.

Card of Thanks.

The relatives of Mrs. JENNINGS wish to express to the neighbors and friends their sincere and heart-felt thanks for the many acts of kindness and sympathy generously bestowed during the illness and on the occasion of the death and funeral.
