POPULAR MOUNT AYR BOY TAKES HIS OWN LIFE
A cloud of deep mourning has rested over Mount Ayr community since Monday evening when it was learned that Donald JENNINGS, 19-year
old son of Mrs. Elijah CAMPBELL, had taken his life by shooting himself through the heart with a .41 calibre revolver as he lay on the
bed at the home in southwest Mount Ayr.
Donald had been in his usual spirits during the day had attended the Fall Festival at
Grant City, Mo., and upon returning home about 4:30 o'clock went to the home and a few minutes later fired the shot which
caused his tragic death. Dr. J. W. HILL, county coroner, was called, but as it was a plain case of suicide no inquest was held.
Donald's entire life was spent in Mount Ayr. He attended the public school with the class of 1932. He was an excellent student,
popular with hs classmates and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. Since graduating from high school he has assisted his
stepfather in the trucking business and has been knows as a capable and industrious young man.
Funeral services held yesterday
(Wednesday) afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church were largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. M. R. TALLEY.
NOTE: Donald JENNINGS was born in 1914. He was interred at Redding Cemetery, Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa.
