The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1933

OBITUARY - MRS. GAIL JARRED.

Velma HACKER was born March 3, 1911, in Lotts Creek township, Ringgold county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Gail JARRED March 28, 1931, and since that time has resided in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

In the past year she has been in failing health and passed quietly away at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy HACKER, on January 2, 1933, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, at the age of 21 years, nine months and 30 days.

She graduated with the class of 1930 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She was a kind and loving daughter, sister and a devoted wife.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, father and mother, three brothers, Vern of Mount Ayr, Cleo of Kellerton and Leo at home, and one brother proceded her in death, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we love is still,
A place made vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Rhoades Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, conducted by Rev. E. S. MENOHER, pastor of the Methodist church, and interment was in the Watterson [Oakdale] cemetery.

NOTE: Roy HACKER, father of Velma (HACKER) JARRED, was born in 1880, and died in 1961 with interment at Oakdale Cemetery.

Transcription and note by Sharon R. Becker, 2008
