OBITUARY - VELMA EUNICE (RINEHART) JAMES

Velma Eunice JAMES was born March 24, 1906, in Worth County [MO] to Ira and Pearl (MONTGOMERY) RINEHART, and departed this life March 7, 1998, at the Crestview Nursing Home in Bethany [MO] at the age of 91.

Velma was united in marriage to Clarence "Jess" JAMES October 17, 1925, in Leon [Decatur County], Iowa. He preceded her in death January 9, 1992.

She was a member of the RLDS church in Allendale.

Also preceding Velma in death were her parents, Ira and Pearl RINEHART; one infant son, Billy; three brothers, Vern of Mount Ayr, Ia.; Lloyd "Pat" of Allendale, Mo.; Orville "Bob" RINEHART; three sisters, Dorcie RINEHART, Myrtle TSCHUDIN and Jeannette MILLER.

Survivors include her five daughters, Bonnie REED of Camdenton, Mo.; Donna WILBURN of Jamesport, Mo.; Katy TRUELOVE of Trimble, Mo.; Mary COTTON and Joy RAGAN, both of Eagleville, Mo.; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren' brothers, Calvin RINEHART of Diagonal, Ia.; Homer and Claude RINEHART of Mount Ayr, Ia.

Velma was a good helpmate, mother and grandmother. Daughters remember her endless hours of growing and then preserving food for the family needs. She was a skilled seamstress. A fond memory is standing beside the treadle sewing machine as she turned out dresses and other clothing needs for her family.

Each grandchild has the good memory of the "little pies" she baked for her special little People. And the ally they had in Granny when they were in trouble.

We are happy that a baby she didn't get to care for is with his mother now. And, we are remembering the the last few days or years, but rather the time when she was happily taking part in a life that brought her pleasure. Gone from our sight but forever in our memories.

Velma will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services and interment were [at] Hickory Grove Cemetery in Mount Ayr [with] Priest Kenneth CRAIG and Evangelist Chas. SNETHEN officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City [MO].
