OBITUARY - CLARENCE "JESS" JAMES

Clarence "Jess" JAMES, son of Squire Harrison and Mary Elizabeth (HOWE) JAMES, was born August 9, 1899, in Mount Ayr, Iowa; and departed this life January 9, 1992, at the Gentry County Hospital in Albany, Mo.; at the age of 92 years and 5 months.

On October 17, 1925, Jess was united in marriage to Velma Eunice RINEHART in Leon, [Decatur County], IA. To this union, six children were born. Jess was a retired farmer. He lived most of his life in Harrison County, MO, except for the past seven years which were spent at the Worth County Convalescent Center in Grant City [MO]. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church near Mount Ayr, IA.

Jess was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Billy; five brothers, Carl, Ray, Guy, Ora and Edmond JAMES; two sisters, Lily JAMES and Ida BROWN.

Survivors include his wife Velma of Eagleville, MO; five daughters, Bonnie REED of Camdenton, MO, Donna WILBURN of Kansas City, MO, Katy TRUELOVE of Trimble, MO, and Joy RAGAN of Eagleville, MO; one brother Merle JAMES of Mount Ayr, IA; one sister, Fay AREHART of Bedford, IA; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services and interment were held Monday, January 13, 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Mount Ayr, IA. Finis EASTER and Keith LAMBERT officiated. Services were under the direction of Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, MO.
