OBITUARY - CLIFFORD "CLIFF" JACKSON

Clifford JACKSON, eldest son of John and Elizabeth (EWING) JACKSON, was born June 6, 1891 in Smith Township of Worth County, Missouri. He was preced in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel; two infant sisters, Louie and Margaret; his brother, Lester; his sister, Leota ABARR; son, James Clifford who died at age 19 after having been struck by lightning; a daughter Mary Faith, who died in infancy; a son-in-law, Kenneth BARRETT; and a grandson, Stephen JENSEN.

Clifford attended college at Kirskville, Missouri in 1909, taking a general course of study. In 1910 he began teaching at the Hunt School in Worth County, Missouri. After attending Aurora Bible College in Aurora, Illinois, under the tutorial of Oren R. JENKSON in 1912, Cliff returned to Missouri and taught school in 1914 and 1915. In 1921 Cliff was ordained by Kelly CAMPBELL with the Assembly of God Church. Prior to this he was pastor at the Jackson Church, Hickory Grove Church and Pleasant Hill Church. Cliff was involved in farming and ministry all his life.

On September 23, 1913, Cliff married Sarah Ethel HUNT, only daughter of Alson Adelbert and Clara Mariah (MOTSINGER) HUNT. Cliff met his wife when she was a student at the Hunt School. They were married in the Presbyterian parsonage in Redding, Iowa. To their union were born eight children, six of whom survive: Evelyn JAMES and Delbert JACKSON of Grant City, Missouri; Opal BARNETT and Joe JACKSON of Mount Ayr, Iowa; Dorothy JENSEN of Chula Vista, California; and, Sally SEDGEWICK of Detroit, Michigan. Also left to mourn his passing are a sister-in-law, Nellie HUNT of Grnat City; a brother-in-law, George HUNT of Redding; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Cliff spent his last years in Worth County Convalescent Center, where he passed away in his sleep the evening of February 14, 1987.

Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Allan ULLESTAD, District superintendent f the Assembly of God Church. Services were held at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home on February 18, with graveside services at the Hickory Grove Church. Serving as casketbearers were Cliff and Ethel's nephews: Alan HUNT, Jubal HUNT, Jerry HUNT, Elvis HUNT, Maurice HUNT and Sanford HUNT. Music was provided by Mary TRULLINGER, Margaret BICKERS and Mike GREENE.
