Ringgold Record, 1894

OBITUARY.

Mary Jane PUGH was born Aug. 16th, 1822 in Montgomeryshire, Wales, and departed this life Jan. 8th, 1894, thus being 71 years, 4 months and 15 days old. In 1842 she came with her father to America. They first lived in New York but soon settled in Columbus, Ohio. Here she was married in 1848 to Chas. H. IRVING lately deceased. In 1860 they moved to Richland county, Illinois, where they lived 4 years. In 1865 they settled permanently in Ringgold county, Iowa. In early life she was a member of the Episcopal church, but on her marriage she united with the Presbyterian church.

Her sickness was brief, but severe from the beginning, yet she bore it with a patient and resigned spirit. The summons found her ready and willing to obey. She always longed eagerly for the morning during the sickness and as its early light streamed through the windows and fell upon her face her spirit took its flight. Ten children came to call her mother, two of whom died in infancy and the others, four sons and four daughters are left to mourn the loss.

. . . AIKMAN from 2nd Cor. 5:8, at the First Presbyterian church on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1894 and the body laid to rest beside her husband [Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa].
