The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1930

OBITUARY - JARVIS HUNTSMAN.

Javis HUNTSMAN, son of Jacob and Kathryn HUNTSMAN, was born in Streeter, Ill., March 1, 1856, and died August 6, 1930, aged 74 years, five months and 16 days. When very young he moved with his parents to Indiana and in early manhood came with his family to Redding, Iowa, where he engaged in the mercantile and livery business. Later moved to Lamoni, Iowa, and later to southern Missouri and in March, 1922, he and his family moved near Mount Ayr that they might help care for an invalid granddaughter.

May 18, 1882, he was united in marriage to Margaret Ellen FOUCH. To this union were born 13 children, three of whom preceded him to the better world - Riley, Orville and Dolly.

Those remaining are: Esther, of Mountain Grove, Mo.; Frank, Nampa, Idaho; Roy, Vesta and Oma, of Mount Ayr; Deborah CLARK and Goldie CEARLEY, of Mountain Grove, Mo.; Verda LYSINGER of Lamoni; and Elsie DAVENPORT and Otha MIDDLETON, of Mount Ayr.

At an early age deceased united with the Latter Day Saints church and by his conscientious living through the rest of his life he has shown to all who came in contact with him that it was not a mere lip confession. He was always thoughtful and never made a decision without thoroughly considering everything. He was always willing to give good advice to those who asked it. He was a useful life both in the home and community and one that will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held at the L.D.S. church in Lamoni Tuesday afternoon, August 19. D. L. WILLIAMS took charge of the service and the sermon was by T. J. BELL. [Interement was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa.]

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to acknowledge the kind acts and the words of sympathy expressed during the illness and at the death of our father and husband; also for the beautiful floral offerings.
- Mrs. Margaret E. HUNTSMAN and children.
