OBITUARY - CHARLES HUMPHREY.

Charles Brooks HUMPHREY, son of Hazen and Emaline HUMPHREY, was born in Hancock county, Illinois, November 15th, 1853, and died at his home in Middle Fork township, Ringgold county, Iowa, February 16, 1926, being 72 years, 3 months and one day old. He came with his parents to eastern Iowa in 1854 and came to Ringgold county in 1855. His home has been in Middle Fork township ever since. He was married to Elizabeth HIGGINS December 20, 1877. To this union were born seven children, three sons and one daughter dying in infancy, Elmer, of Irena; Earl, on the old home place, and Allen, of near Mount Ayr.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, three sons, two sisters, Mrs. Fannie ELLIS, of Eldorado, Kansas, Mrs. Iowa THORLA, of Kansas City; three brothers, James HUMPHREY, of Merricourt, N.D., Ellis, of Mulberry, Kansas, and Fred, of Wakenda, Mo., and a host of friends.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, kind and indulgent father, an upright citizen, and a good neighbor. He, with his parents, endured the hardships of pioneer life.

He united with the Advent Christian church at Hickory Grove thirty-two years ago.

The funeral was held at the Hickory Grove church February 19, conducted by Rev. FOSTER, Christian minister of Grant City, Mo. He was laid to rest in the Hickory Grove cemetery.

NOTE: Elizabeth (HIGGINS), wife of Charles Brooks HUMPHREY, was born in 1856, and died in 1944 with interment at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
