OBITUARY - BERNARD BURDETTE "BERNIE" HULL

Bernard Burdette HULL was born May 18, 1926 to Walter Eugene and Mary Louisa (PERR) HULL in Putnam County, Missouri. He passed from this life on June 11, 2000 at the age of 74 at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.

He graduated from Arispe High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He belonged to the American Legion Dewey Post #516 for 25 years and was a member of the Tingley Christian Church.

Bernie was united in marriage to Margaret (TROXELL) BRYAN in 1963. A son, Eugene Earl was born to this marriage.

Survivors include his wife Margaret; son Eugene Earl (wife Jennifer) of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Jan (husband Jerry) JENSEN of Ogden and Candy (husband Steve) McCOWAN of Lincoln, NE; two step-daughters, Kathy JACKSON of Burlington and Ruthie (husband Mark) SCHLAPIA of Diagonal; step-son Robert (wife Linda) BRYAN of Georgia; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Layefette (wife Priscilla), Lyle (wife Arnolene) of Mount Ayr and Larry of Grand River; a sister, Verladene (husband Edwin) MAINS of Des Moines; two brothers-in-law, Joe HARPIN of Sedalia, Missouri and Lyle (wife Carol) TROXELL of Marcellus, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Bernadine HARPIN and Noma BYRD; a baby sister in infancy and his parents-in-law.

He will be deeply missed by all.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at the Christian Church in Tingley with Rev. Eydie STEPHENS and Rev. Merlin WILKINS. Mrs. Harold BROWN was the organist with "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" as musical selections. Casket bearers were Ron WILLEY, Donald WEEDA, Harold BROWN, Richard HULL, Greg HULL and Kevin HULL. Military graveside rites were provided by Dewey Post #516 and Ringgold Post #172 American Legion members.

Bernard was laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery at Tingley, Iowa.
