WALTER HUBBARD DIES - Shannon City

Walter HUBBARD, 91, of Shannon City, passed away on February 14, 1983 at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston.

Mr. HUBBARD was born August 5, 1891, in Dixon, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Annie (MERTZ) HUBBARD. He married Amy SMITH.

They moved to Shannon City in 1938. They had previously lived in the Blockton area. He retired from farming and had worked for Chicago Great Western Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Amy of Shannon City; one daughter, Betty HUBBARD of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; two sons, Clarke of Arapahoe, Wyo., and Cyril HUBBARD of Diagonal; four grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren of Van Meter and Robert of Keytesville, Mo.; and one sister, Evelyn ELDRIDGE of Grand Junction.

Services were held on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Shannon City with Rev. Mark KOENING officiating. Interment was in Oakland Cemtery. Wilson-Watson FUneral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the Union County Historical Society.
