OBITUARY - ALBERT LESTER HUBBARD

Albert Lester Hubbard, known by his family and friends as "Cheese," was born in Morgan Township in Decatur County, Iowa on April 13, 1912 to Albert Theodore and Artincie (MOORE) HUBBARD. After a lingering illness, Lester died on June 25, 1994 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at the age of 82 years.

He attended Charm Country School and Leon High School. Lester spent the earlier years of his life engaged in farming on the farm on which he was born.

Lester was united in marriage to Dorothy Ellen JONES on December 12, 1936. To this union five children were born.

After moving to Leon in 1962, Lester was a plumber for various plumbing shops. Later he was a janitor at the Central Decatur High School. After retiring from full-time employment, Lester continued part-time janitor work at I.S.U. and the Leon Public Library. He was always a faithful, loyal, and dedicated worker.

Lester enjoyed farming, gardening, music, watching wrestling, and visiting with his family and friends. He especially liked arguing politics. Many of the musical selections played today are some of his favorites. Before his surgery in 1979 he was well-known as one of the best square dance callers in the country.

Lester was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Lucille, his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Left to mourn his departure is his wife and companion of 57 years Dorothy HUBBARD of Leon; his children: Marilyn Kay SUDDATH and husband Jerry of Nevada, Iowa, Sharon Raye O'DELL and husband Roger of Kellerton, Iowa, Arden Lester HUBBARD and friend Sandy DOUGHERTY of Leon, and Rhonda Jo GILLESPIE and husband Ron of Tucson, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister Mildred DAVIS of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.

Lester accepted Jesus as his Savior. Even though he'll be sadly missed, he is in a better place where there is no pain and suffering.
