Kellerton Globe
Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa
July of 1908

To the Editor of the Globe:
Enclosed please find obituary of Mrs. C. H. HOYLE,clipped from the Osceola Sentinel. Old settlers in and near Kellerton will remember her as being the first child born in Kellerton. If I remember rightly, the railroad company gave her a lot in Kellerton in honor of her being the first child born in Kellerton. Her father, J. P. WILEY, I believe, was the first ticket agent in Kellerton.
Respectfully, E. T. BEEDE

OBITUARY.

Bessie L. WILEY, daughter of J. P. and Happa WILEY, was born in Kellerton, Iowa, December 26, 1897, and died at Ft. Worth, Texas, July 8, 1908, at the age of 28 years, 7 months, and 12 days. At the tender age of 12 years she made public profession of her faith in Christ at Murray. On the 16th of April, 1902, she was united in marriage to C. H. HOYLE, in Des Moines, who was with her at the time of her death, and her mother, brother, and sister, as well as many other relatives and friends are left to mourn her early departure.

For the past four years, nearly, Mrs. HOYLE has been a sufferer from comsumption. During this time she has made her home in Dallas, Texas, in the hope that she might obtain relief and regain her health. Through all this long period of suffering and waiting, she was kind, patient, cheerful and hopeful. . . Her father passed into the world beyond nearly twentyyears ago.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of Hiram LAMB in Murray, at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, by A. J. CARRICK, minister of the Christian church, of which she was a member. Interment was made in the family lot in the Murray Cemetery.

NOTE: While A. A. PEASLEY was mayor of Kellerton in 1900, he received a letter from Mrs. HOYLE, who was then living in Des Moines, asking if he could give her the number of the lot and block that had been given to her by the railroad company at her birth. Mr. PEASLEY made a thorough search of all the available town and county records, but was unable to find the desired information.
