OBITUARY ~ JUANITA B. HORST

1924 - June 9, 2011

Juanita B. HORST, 87, died peacefully at Mount Ayr Health Care on June 2, 2011. She was a resident of Kansas City, Missouri for 50 years. In recent years she resided in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Juanita was a homemaker who loved to cook and decorate her lovely home. She used any free time to pursue the arts she loved -- decorative painting, copper tooling, sewing, knitting, quilting, porcelain doll making and any other art or craft you could imagine. Juanita loved bowling and was secretary of her bowling league for many years.

Juanita married Grant Lawrence HORST of Quincy, Illinois October 22, 1945. They enjoyed couples bowling, traveling, entertaining their wonderful family and decorating and cooking at Christmas. They also enjoyed their lake cabin near Kirksville, Missouri.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue BUCK, and husband Bob of Mount Ayr, Iowa; sister, Mabel HILL of Novinger, Missouri; sister-in-law, Betty MONTGOMERY of Port Neches, Texas; grandchildren, Foster CRAIN and wife, Emily of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mark CRAIN of Columbus, Ohio. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews whom she and Grant loved dearly, great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Juanita attended the Mount Ayr Baptist-Presbyterian Church.

There will be a short service at Travis Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri on June 11 at 11 a.m. She will be buried following the service at the Goldsberry Cemetery next to her husband, parents, brother, sisters and their spouses.

Juanita has long wanted a memorial bench by the family graves so people can sit while they visit. She was going to get that done herself this summer. Memorial money will be applied to buy and install this bench.
