OBITUARY - ELIZABETH ANN (WARE) WELLS HOPKINS

Eliza Ann WARE was born May 8, 1850 near Belknap, Davis County, Iowa and died at her home north of Redding on January 29, 1917, aged sixty-six years, ten months and twenty-one days, death being caused by pneumonia fever. On December 18, 1872 she was married to Absalom WELLS and moved to Ringgold county, Iowa, where she has since made her home, living on the old home place for forty-three years. To this union were born seven children - Minnie RAMSEY of Ottumwa, Iowa, Stella MAUDLIN of Canada; John WELLS of Springfield, Missouri; George WELLS of Plains, Montana; Mae DERICKSON of Redding, Iowa; Arthur WELLS of Allendale, Missouri; and Mary THOMPSON of Redding, Iowa.

The husband and father died May 14, 1887.

In Dec. 1887 she married to R. O. HOPKINS, to which union was born one child, Ollie, born in 1888 and died in 1907 [Ollie may have died during childbirth, as her infant lived for several days and then died].

She was converted at the age of fourteen years and united with the Baptist church at that time of which she left her membership.

Besides the husband and children mentioned, she leaves to mourn their loss, twenty-four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four sisters, four brothers and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church on Friday, February 2, 1917, Rev. Carl CRITCHETT, officiating, after which interment was made in the Redding cemetery.
