OBITUARY - H. M. HOFF.

Henry M. HOFF (known as Harry by relatives and friends), son of James and Harriet HOFF, was born in West Virginia April 5, 1873, and departed this life July 28, 1943, at the age of 70 years, three months and 22 days.

He moved to Iowa in 1883 and was united in marriage to Lena LUCAS in 1895. To this union were born six children, Milo L., of Ellston, Imogene CRAWFORD of Iowa City, Byron J. of Kellerton, Juanita HESS of Iowa City, Lee R. of Des Moines, and Delmar L. of Omaha, Neb.

Surviving are his wife, six children, four beloved daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one half sister, Ollie ELLIOTT, and three half brothers, Ottie, Hollie and Silas BURDETTE, of Kansas, one step-brother, Frazier BURDETTE of Diagonal, and a host of other relatives and friends. One son-in-law, Harold HESS, proceded him in death eight years ago.

The Christian church was his choice in his youth and he was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

He was a loving husband, a kind and affectionate father, a great lover of nature, was hospitable and a kindly neighbor.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, August 1, at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church in Ellston, conducted by the Rev. A. R. WEED. Burial was in the Cornwall cemetery.

NOTE: Cornwall Cemetery, also known as Haight Cemetery, is located in Pleasant Township of Union County.
