OBITUARY - BENJAMIN "SHAFTER" HARRIMAN

Shafter HARRIMAN, fourth son of Benjamin and Josephine HARRIMAN, was born September 1, 1898, at Kellerton, Ia., and died Aug. 1 1962, in Portland, Oregon, after a lengthy illness.

His early years were spent in Kellerton. He was united in marriage to Vera STEVENS on July 14, 1920, and they were the parents of two daughters, Verla Dean OREN, of Salinas, CA., and Virginia SKINNER, Of Eagle Creek, Ore.

Mr. and Mrs. HARRIMAN spent their early married life in Kellerton and Ellston. In 1942, they moved to Portland, where he worked in the shipyards during the war years. For the past sixteen he had been employed by the Reynolds Metal Co. in Troutdale, Ore., where he made many friends.

He joined the Parkrose Christian Church in 1953, and was an active member.

He was well known to his friends and neighbors for his keen wit and ready story suitable for any occasion. He was always interested in and participated in politics at all levels.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Loren, of Denver, Colo.

Left to cherish his memory are his widow, two daughters, five grandchildren and two brothers, Lloyd of Torrington, Wyo., and Edward of Des Moines.

Interment in Lincoln Memorial Park [Portland, Oregon].
