Mount Ayr Record-News, 1925

OBITUARY - THOMAS HARDEN.

Thomas HARDEN, son of Jessis (sic) and Julia [(FRASER)] HARDEN, was born in Pennsylvania, [April 25,] 1850, and died at the home of his son Frank in Torrington, Wyo., August 14, 1925, age 75 years, three months and nineteen days. In 1871 he was married to Miss Jennie MITCHELL. To this union were born five children, one girl preceding him in death. In the fall of 1879 he came to Iowa, settling on a farm in Ringgold county where he resided until moving to Mount Ayr, where he was engaged in the mercantile business for several years. During this period on December 23, 1922, Mrs. HARDEN passed away.

On November 17, 1924, he was united in marriage to Ida THURSTON, of St. Joseph, Mo. About the middle of July Mr. HARDEN decided to go to Torrington, Wyo., to visit his son and daughter. Those let to mourn his departure are his wife, of Mount Ayr, son Frank and daughter, Mrs. Mabel HACKER, of Torrington, Wyo., two sons, Walter and Harry, of Mount Ayr.

Funeral services were held yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, and the interment was in Rose Hill cemetery (sic, interment was at Middle Fork Cemetery east of Redding).

NOTE: Harry K. HARDEN, son of Thomas and Mary Jane "Jennie" (MITCHELL), was born in 1875, and died in 1961 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
