ACCIDENT CAUSES DEATH of RESPECTED CITIZEN.

Hannon gravestone.jpg Michael HANNON, aged and highly respected citizen of the Maloy vicinity, died Monday morning as a result of injuries received Sunday evening when he was struck by an automobile driven by Clifford WOOLLUMS, who is employed at the T. S. SHAY, Jr., farm.

The accident happened about 5:30 near the Merle HULLMON farm, which is just east of the Taylor-Ringgold county line, on Primary No. 3. Mr. HANNON was walking on the road, on his way from his home, one-half mile north of the primary road, to the home of his son Michael, Jr. Mr. WOOLLUMS was unable to see Mr. HANNON until too late to avoid the accident. The car, a model T Ford, was thrown into the ditch and almost completely demolished.

A passing motorist helped Mr. HANNON into his car and took him to the home of his son. A doctor was summoned from Blockton and it was found that Mr. HANNON was suffering from chest, limb and possible internal injuries.

The death of Mr. HANNON marks the passing of one of our oldest a nd most highly respected citizens. He was 83 years of age and throughout his long residence in the community was held in high esteem. He was a good citizen and at his death the community mourns.

Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) forenoon at the Catholic church in Maloy and burial was in the cemetery near by [Saint Mary Cemetery, Maloy, Ringgold County, Iowa].

NOTE: Elizabeth, wife of Michael HANNON, was born in 1859, and died in 1926 with interment at Saint Mary Cemetery, Maloy, Iowa.
