Mount Ayr Record-News, 1928

OBITUARY - MRS. FLOYD HANKS.

Nellie May, daughter of Sam and Lula GERMAN, was born November 12, 1900, near Caledonia, Iowa, and departed this life May 1, 1928, at her parent's home south of Mount Ayr, being 27 years, five months and 19 days old.

She was united in marriage to Floyd Jefferson HANKS March 15, 1925. To this union was born one daughter, April 30, 1928, for whom Nellie sacrificed her life.

Soon after the marriage they moved to her father's farm near Caledonia, in the community where she grew to womanhood.

She united with the M. E. church in her childhood.

Nellie was of a cheerful disposition, striving to obtain the joys life held for her and scattering sunshine everywhere. She bore her suffering with great fortitude. Everything that loving hearts and kind hands could do was done, but the Master called and she responded.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, little daughter, Fern Louise, father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Floyd GUESS of Kellerton, Iowa, Mrs. Bud PYLE of Mount Ayr; one brother, Emmett of Mount Ayr, and a host of other relatives. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL at the Baptist church in Mount Ayr and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Yes, dear Nellie, how we'll miss you,
Miss you more than we can tell.
But in heaven we hope to meet you
There for ever more to dwell
And the little bud that's left here,
We will cherish, care for, love.
For we know the baby fingers,
Point to heaven and home above.
Weary hearts are all about us,
We may comfort, love and cheer,
Thus forget our own sad heartaches
While the Father leaves us here.
As we seek to help each other
On life's jurney here below,
Glad will be the reuniting
When from earth to heaven we go.

Card of Thanks.

We desire to tank the kind friends who assisted us during the sickness, death and burial of our loved one and for the sympathy so generously bestowed.--Floyd Jefferson HANKS, Mr. and Mrs. Sam GERMAN and family, Mr. and Mrs. Matt HANKS and family.

NOTE: Floyd Jefferson HANKS was born in 1902.
