OBITUARY - JAMES Calvin HALEY

American Flag.jpg James HALEY, 88, of Benton died August 7, 2006, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Susan THOMAS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Benton Cemetery. Open visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday with family visitation 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his name.

James HALEY, son of Veneta (GAINES) and Arthur Q. HALEY, was born August 23, 1917, in Maloy. He graduated from Benton High School in 1935. On Oct. 4, 1941, James married Dorotha Olive LANE in Grant City, Mo. He worked for the railroad and as a custodian at Benton School. He was a member of American Legion Ringgold Post No. 172, VFW Odd Fellows Lodge and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include four children, Robert (wife Linda) HALEY and Joan (husband Donald) STRINGHAM, all of Benton, Julia (husband Donald) STEPHENS of Redding and Mary Jane (husband Ernie) GARRETT of Diagonal; sister-in-law Pat HALEY of Mount Ayr; brother-in-law Leo (wife Carol) LANE of Silver Springs, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four brothers, George, Elbert, Harry and Raymond HALEY.
