OBITUARY - LEROY ANDREW "ROY" HAAS
NEW ULM, MN -- LeRoy "Roy" A. HAAS, 88, of New Ulm died Saturday, October 25, 2008 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 31 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with
burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier's Rest Section. Monsignor John A. RICHTER will celebrate the Mass. Full
military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There
will be a parish prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council will
pray the rosary at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Violet HAAS of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Barb and Bill
DAHM of Madelia, Linda and Craig ANDERSON of Courtland, Laurie and Joe MATTER of New Ulm, Sharon HAAS and her fiance Dave
FULKERSON of New Ulm; sons, Tom HAAS and LuAnn of New Ulm, Jim HAAS and Peggy of Lafayette, Dick HAAS of Haines, Alaska,
Kenny HAAS of Kellerton, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;a sister, Dolores ASCHENBRENNER of New Ulm; and a
family friend, LeAnne KRZMARZICK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Annabelle SMITH; and by
a sister in infancy.
LeRoy Andrew HAAS was born March 23, 1920 in New Ulm to William and Mary (MAIDLE) HAAS. He
attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm. After school LeRoy worked at the Schroeder's Baker in New Ulm. He then
served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1946. He then worked at various jobs in New Ulm. In 1950 he
started work at the New Ulm Street Department and worked there until his retirement. He loved hunting, fishing, camping,
mushroom hunting and the outdoors.
LeRoy was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, The St. Joseph's Catholic
Aid Council, Lost Dog and Fox Hunters Club, Red Cross blood donor, American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm, VFW Post 1648 in
New Ulm anda lifetime member of the New Ulm Battery.
