OBITUARY ~ MAURICE G. "MORRIS" GILLESPIE

Maurice G. "Morris" Gillespie, age 66, of Canton passed away early Wednesday morning Dec. 30, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center.

He was born in Lamoni, Iowa, on March 26, 1943, to the late Cecil Rae and Elfrieda (Bowen) Gillespie. Maurice was a retired meat cutter for Fresh Mark/Sugardale Company following 33 years of service. A member of AFLCIO, Maurice was also a faithful member of Community of Christ Church of Barberton congregation. Maurice enjoyed fishing, gardening, and attending sports autograph sessions. He was a wonderful neighbor in his neighborhood, where he would volunteer his help to anyone in need. Maurice's passion in life was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Lynda Gillespie of the home; five children, Buffeyanne E. (Michael) Esquivel of Charles Town, W.Va., Bambilynn L. (Dennis) Fahy of Bridgewater, Mass., Tracygene P. (Anna) Gillespie of Canton, Ohio, Troyrae O. (Ruth) Gillespie of Cortland, Ohio, Kimberlymarie N. (Dustin) Kessler of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jaylynn, Declan, Aidan and Finn, with two more expecting grandchildren; two sisters, Doris E. Gillespie of Creston, Iowa, Theresa (David) Greene of Texas; a brother, Ronald Gillespie of Lamoni, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2009 at 4 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel with Elder Frank Davis and High Priest Don Moore co-officiating. Calling hours will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. in the funeral home.

Added: Maurice was a 1962 graduate of Grand Valley High School, Kellerton, Iowa.
