OBITUARY ~ HELEN "LOUISE" (BATA) FROIT
May 14, 1930 ~ April 01, 2014

Helen Louise (Bata) Froit was born on May 14, 1930 north of Diagonal, Iowa to Joseph Frank Bata and Fairy Helen (Jones) Bata. Louise had two younger sisters Reva and Donna. The three girls remained very close through out the years.

Growing up Louise lived in Texas and Iowa and spent many happy hours with her maternal grandparents, Poppy and Flossie Jones. She graduated from Diagonal High School and was very proud to be valedictorian.

Louise had five children, Joey, Billy, Nancy, Kellene and Montelle. She worked in food service and area factories most of her life and loved to cook. Most of her cooking was from scratch and she rarely used a recipe. Louise also loved to travel and lived in Iowa, Nevada, Colorado and Arkansas. She loved to garden and took great pride in the number of hummingbirds and songbirds that visited her garden. She loved all animals and always had a pet dog or cat. Louise also enjoyed all types of music and going to dances.

Louise passed away April 1, 2014 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Fairy Bata, her eldest son Joe Bata, her sister Reva Shiflett and nephew Steven Shiflett.

Louise is survived by her remaining children; Bill (Connie) Doudy of Mount Ayr, Nancy (Rick) Keller of Grand River, Kellene Ritter of Creston, and Montelle Froit of Shannon City, her sister Donna McDonald of Diagonal, eight grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Services were held at the Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Diagonal on Saturday, April 4, 2014, with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Musical selections were "Wheels," "Blue Eyes Crying in The Rain" and "I'll Fly Away."

Honorary pallbearers included Andy Keller, Cecil Smith, Charlie Shannon, Dale Thorton, Ivan Froit and Tye Doudy.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
