OBITUARY ~ RODNEY ALAN EMIG

A one-car accident claimed the life of Rodney Alan Emig, 21, of Lenox when the car he was driving left the roadway on Shoenhair Street in Lenox and struck a utility pole. Emig was pronounced dead at the scene of head injuries. A passenger in the Emig auto, David Long, 17, of Lenox, was taken to Rosary Hospital in Corning with head, neck and back injuries.

The accident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Shoenhair Street, a gravel street south of Michigan Street. The 1970 Mercury driven by Emig was considered a total loss.

The vehicle was northbound on Shoenhair Street when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver was thrown from the vehicle.

Responding to the scene of the accident were the Lenox Police Department, the Taylor County Sheriffs Department, and Trooper Kenny Brown of Corning, Iowa State Highway Patrol.

OBITUARY ~ RODNEY ALAN EMIG

Rodney Alan Emig, the son of Gerald and Darlene Emig, was born June 30, 1961. He died Monday, June 20, 1983 at Lenox, Iowa.

On February 14, 1980, he was united in marriage with Lynn Marie Kohl.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Gerald; a brother, Jerry; and a sister-in-law, Lynn.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn and two children, Jennifer Lynn and Christopher Alan of Lenox; his mother, Darlene Emig of Mt. Ayr; two brothers, Gary Emig, wife, Linda and three children, and Larry Emig, wife, Carol and two children, all of Eagleville, Missouri; three sisters, Karyn Graham, husband, Bob and two children of Benton, Iowa, Donna Hardisty, husband, Don and one child of Carl, Iowa and Darla Brown, husband, Don and two children of Marshalltown, Iowa; as well as other relatives.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23. Reverend Jim Turner and Pastor Jack Cutbirth officiated.

Music was by Mrs. Walter Owens, organist, and Dave Johnston, soloist. The selections, were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Casket bearers were Rick Grace, Harold Huber, Dave Johnston, Eddie Douglas, Jerry Browning, and Charles Matheny.

Honorary bearers were Randy Emig, Lloyd Long, Joe Meier, Rick Emig, and Stoney McKee.

Interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
