Ringgold Record, 1877
NOTICE of DEATH.
TINGLEY--DIED--May 27th, 1877, at his late residence in Tingley township, Ringgold Co., Iowa, P.J. [Pleasant J.] GRIMES, in
the 49th year of his age. [P. J. was born in 1827.]
The subject of the above notice was born in Putnam county, Indiana,
where he resided until the year 1860, when he removed to Iowa. He was one of our most enterprising farmers and stock
raisers, and had succeeded by his industry in making one of the finest farms in the county. He was one of the few men of
our day of whom it could be said: "His word can be relied upon in all his transactions with his fellow man." His wife and
three children mourn his loss, and the community feel that a good man has been taken from their midst.
P. J. GRIMES served with Co. C of the Southern Iowa Border Brigade during the Civil War. He was interred at Pleasant Ridge (a.k.a. Bever) Cemetery, rural Tingley, Ringgold County, Iowa. Edgar, son of P. J. GRIMES, was born
in 1863, and died on January 13, 1892 with interment at Tingley Cemetery.
