OBITUARY - CINDY LU GRIMES

Cindy Lu GRIMES, daughter of Donald and Schwanda GRIMES, was born February 3, 1956.

She graduated from high school in Lincoln, IL in 1974. She worked at the Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL for 20 years, first as a Certified Nursing Assistant and working her way up to Ward Clerk of the Intensive Care Unit. Cindy was a member of the St. Louis Cardinal Fan Club. She lived with her grandmother Mae WHITESIDE during this time and enjoyed many family fish fry’s and holiday dinners there with her entire family.

In 1998 Cindy moved to Mount Ayr, Iowa to be closer to her family. At that time Cindy’s health had begun to decline and while she was a big help to her family she also was in need of some tender loving care.

Cindy died on October 27, 2008 at Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr, IA after a 7 month battle with Cancer. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Buck and Mae WHITESIDE, Paul and Hazel GRIMES and her mother Schwanda GRIMES.

Those left to mourn her passing include her father, Don GRIMES of Mount Ayr; a sister, two brothers and sisters in-law, Julene Annette RIMES of Wisconsin, Steven Lynn GRIMES and Betty GRIMES of Lamoni, IA, of and Charles Michael GRIMES and Lisa GRIMES of Lawrenceville, IL: Nieces and nephews, Stacy MESEBURG, Paul SKAUB, Jason PLATT, Shelly JUN, and Jeffrey GRIMES.

On behalf of Cindy’s family we would like to thank you for joining us in remembering and celebrating her life.

Cindy was a kind and gentle person. Her love and devotion for her family was the center of her focus at all times. Her soft and gentle spirit will be with all of us until we rejoice with her again in heaven.

Today we all gather together to remember her life and to celebrate in her passing onto a life without pain and suffering. Her work on earth is done and her reward awaits her in Heaven.

Services were conducted at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, October 30, 2008 with Rev. Susan THOMAS officiating. Musicians were Butch and Ina CHAPIN.
