OBITUARY - CYRIL DAN GREENE

Cyril D. GREENE, 73, of Mount Ayr died March 28, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Edward SHIELDS will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. Open visitation will be until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Mount Ayr. Memorials may be directed to Ringgold County Public Health.

Mr. GREENE, son of Florence Marguerite (FROST) and Cyril Creston GREENE, was born June 4, 1930, in Decatur County. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1948. On December 30, 1951, he married Elizabeth F. HORNE at the First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr. He was employed as assistant engineer by Ringgold County Engineer's office for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of American Legion Ringgold Post No. 172, Disabled Veterans, Faith Lodge No. 179, Eastern Star and First Baptist Church in Mount Ayr.

Survivors include three sons, Mike (wife Susan) GREENE of St. Charles, Mo., Maurice (wife Jodi) GREENE of Creston and Mack (wife Jeanine) GREENE of Mount Ayr; a sister, Maxine (husband Max) ANDERSON of Mount Ayr; a sister-in-law, Sue (husband Glen) ASHLEY of Polk City; 10 grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Mae HORNE; wife in 1992; and a nephew, David Lynn ANDERSON.
