Investigation into 'unattended' death continues

An investigation continues into the death of a 32-year-old Mount Ayr man whose body was discovered by the Ringgold County Sheriff's Office at 401 East Adams in Mount Ayr at 11:33 a.m. Friday.

The Ringgold County Sheriff's Office along with the Ringgold County Medical Examiner, Ringgold County Ambulance and Mount Ayr volunteer fire department responded to the scene, where Adrian John GARCIA was found in an outbuilding behind the residence on East Adams Street.

GARCIA was declared dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed at the state medical examiners office in Ankeny.

The cause of death was not released pending autopsy results and was termed an "unattended death." Foul play is not suspected.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Ringgold County Sheriff's Office.

Funeral services for GARCIA were held Wednesday, April 28, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.

OBITUARY - ADRIAN JOHN GARCIA

Adrian John GARCIA, son of Francisco R. & Agnes (ARIAS) GARCIA, was born August 8, 1977 in Clovis, New Mexico. Adrian graduated from high school in Clovis. He received a two year degree in college. He moved with his family to Mount Ayr about 6 years ago. Adrian was a chef and had worked at the restaurant at Sun Valley among other places. Adrian also helped with the food pantry and attended the Bank of Christ Church in Kellerton.

Adrian passed away at his home on April 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his mother Agnes; 2 brothers Javier GARCIA & Juan Jose; paternal grandparents Antonio & Maria Garcia; and paternal grandparents Esmael & Estella ARIAS.

Survivors include his father Francisco GARCIA of Mount Ayr; sister Anna Alicia GARCIA; brother Julian WILLIAMS of Iowa; aunts Teresa GARRA of Mexico & Mary Ellen ARAGON of Clovis, New Mexico; cousins Joe GARCIA & Kika ARENAS of Colorado; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28 at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Sandy MERCER and Pastor Kathy JOHNSON officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the family.
