OBITUARY - J. MARIE (JOHNSTON) FLOWERS

J. Marie FLOWERS, 82, of Creston died January 4, 2005, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 8, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Terry AMANN will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Open visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or Greater Community Healthcare Foundation volunteer services.

Mrs. FLOWERS, daughter of Viola Marie (BROWN) and Glen Clinton JOHNSTON, was born February 2, 1922, in Mount Ayr. She graduated from Creston High School in 1939 and attended Creston Junior College two years. On April 5, 1941, she married Ora H. FLOWERS at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. She lived in Creston most of her life. After her marriage, she lived in Carl and Prescott and later on a farm south of Creston before moving to Creston. She was a housewife and worked as an X-ray technician at Creston Medical Clinic from about 1968-1990. She was a volunteer at Creston Medical Arts Plaza information desk two years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Creston Cozy Campers. She was active with Grant Toppers and Grant Go-Getters 4-H clubs and a youth fellowship sponsor for Platte Center Presbyterian Church.

Survivors includes a daughter, Marie (husband James) HASSEL of Skiatook, Okla.; two sons, Richard (wife Linda) FLOWERS of Branson, Mo., and Jim (wife Tami) FLOWERS of Creston; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband January 13, 2003; daughter Mary Ellen FLOWERS; and brother Robert L. JOHNSTON.
