OBITUARY - EDWARD MICHAEL "ED" FLETCHER
Ed FLETCHER, 60, of Diagonal died September 7, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the United Church of Diagonal. The Rev. John BERAN and the Rev. Eydie STEPHENS
will officiate the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, north of Diagonal. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at
Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. A memorial has been established in his name.
Mr. FLETCHER, son of Alice (WIMER) and Everett FLETCHER, was born May 16, 1945, in Des Moines. He graduated from Diagonal
High School in 1964. While growing up, he spent a lot of time with Pete and Veva VORHIES and became part of their family.
On Jan. 17, 1965, he married Bonnie OVERHOLSER at the Christian Church in Diagonal. He worked for the Iowa Department of
Transportation in Creston as an engineering operations technician from 1965 until retiring June 30, 2005. He was a member
of the United Church of Diagonal.
Survivors include his mother, Alice FLETCHER of Creston; wife Bonnie FLETCHER of Diagonal; daughter Shawna (husband Roy)
DAVENPORT of Diagonal; son Britt (wife Lisa) FLETCHER of Sundance, Wyo.; four grandchildren, Dillon, Aaron and Megan
DAVENPORT and Kaedyn FLETCHER; seven brothers, John FLETCHER and Larry FLETCHER, both of Creston, David (wife Barb)
FLETCHER of Grand Junction, Colo., Richard (wife Cindy) FLETCHER of Afton, Charlie (wife Roxie) FLETCHER and Tom FLETCHER,
all of Diagonal, and Steve FLETCHER of Mount Ayr; three sisters, Peggy (husband Ted) OLSON of Mitchellville, Karen (husband
Dale) MAGEE and Patty (husband Ronnie) BIRD, all of Creston; and two sisters-in-law, Bessie (husband Eddie) AUSTIN of
Diagonal and Barb (husband Bill) TJADEN of Titonka.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law Betty (husband Delbert) McCOMBS.
