OBITUARY - JAMES L. FLETCHALL, Jr.

American Flag.jpg SHERIDAN, WY - Memorial services for Sheridan resident James L. FLETCHALL Jr., 81, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, December 23, at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan by the officers of American Legion John Donald Garbutt Post No. 7. Graveside services, with military honors by the Wyoming National Guard and American Legion, will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

He died December 17, 2003, in the Sheridan Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born near Mount Ayr, Iowa, on October 25, 1922, he was the son of James L. and Mary (THOMAS) FLETCHALL; was raised and educated in Mount Ayr and Redding, Iowa; and graduated from Redding High School in 1941.

He moved to Sheridan [WY] with his family.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist mate in the Aleutian Islands and south Pacific.

In 1953, he married Pauline W. SLOVAK in Buffalo.

He had several different jobs after his discharge from the Navy, and was a bartender until 1955, when he started his own television and electronics business. He managed American Legion Post No. 7 Club and retired Jan 10, 1990.

His interests included working at home, bow-hunting, and fishing with his wife.

Survivors include his son, James L. FLETCHALL III of Sheridan; stepdaughter, Cheryl EHRMANTRAUT of Billings, Mont.; a granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in April 2003, after 50 years of marriage; parents; seven sisters; and five brothers.

Memorials may be made to the Dog and Cat Shelter, in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
