OBITUARY - CLIDA AGNES (MAUDLIN) FLETCHALL

Clida A. MAUDLIN, eldest child of James W. and Oresta May (COVERDELL) MAUDLIN, was born in Ringgold County, Iowa, August 13, 1899. Two months later her parents moved with her to a farm in Worth County, Missouri, near Grant City where she grew up. She attended public schools, graduating from the Grant City High School June 6, 1919. Clida taught in the rural schools of Worth County for the three following years.

On June 3, 1922, she was united in marriage with Frank FLETCHALL of Grant City in Mount Ayr, by Rev. S. P. WILLIAMSON, pastor of the Christian Church there. Clida and Frank lived in Worth County, Missouri, the remainder of their lives where two sons were born into their home.

Clida accepted Christ as her personal saviour September 11, 1916, at a union revival meeting in Grant City and united with the First Christian church where she was baptized. Later her membership was transferred to the United Brthren in Christ Church, Grand River Chapel in the Fletchall Grove. Here she served her Lord in various capacities. later she was active in the United Methodist Church at Middlefork where she taught a Bible class several years.

Clida was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1985; her parents; five brothers, John, Lodus, Voleny, Willard, and Woodrow MAUDLIN; a sister, Doris BURNS; and one granddaughter, Leah Kathleen FLETCHALL.

Survivors are two sons, Eugene and wife Ada of Grand City, Joe and wife Betty of Sheridan, MO; four grandchildren: Norma SIMMONS and husband Dennis of Clarinda, IA; Richard FLETCHALL and wife Marilyn of Stanberry, MO; Bobbie FLETCHALL of Kansas City, KS; Rev. Teddy FLETCHALL and wife Rebecca of Austria [MO]; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; one brother, Marion MAUDLIN of Grant City; one sister-in-law, Betty MAUDLIN of Maryville, MO; a sister, Mrs. Agnes HINER of Medford, OR; other relatives andmany friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 29, 1998, 1:30 p.m. at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City. Dr. Victor BOLLINGER officated. Interment was in the Fletchall Cemetery, Grant City, Missouri.
