FATAL ACCIDENT

An accident which resulted fatally occurred near Van Wert last Saturday, when Mrs. FISHER, the wife of a United Brethren minister of Beaconsfield, was thrown from a buggy and killed. They drove over to Van Wert on Friday, visiting there with friends over night and expected to drive the next day to visit a son in the neighborhood of Round Knoll, where Mr. FISHER expected to fill the pulpit on Sunday. They started out the next day and when about three miles out of Van Wert they met an automobile which frightened the horse, and turning suddenly, threw Mr. FISHER out of the buggy. The horse then ran on down the road until it was near its old home, where Mrs. FISHER was thrown out. Her arm was broken and a blow on the head caused concussion of the brain. She was taken by the auto driver to the home of Mr. McMURTREY and a physician called, but she soon lost consciousness and expired in a couple of hours. As most of the relatives of the family reside in Michigan, it was decided that she be taken there for interment, and on Monday morning the heartbroken husband and son accompanied the body to Michigan. It is a sad occurrence and the bereaved relatives and friends have the sympathy of the community.

Van Wert News:

Van Wert is surely having her share of sorrow this year. On Saturday another runaway accident occurred which resulted in the death of the wife of Mr. FISHER, the minister of the United Brethren Church at Beaconsfield and Round Knoll. They came over from their home in Beaconsfield on Friday, visited over night at the home of Mr. And Mrs. ISAAC McMURTREY, in Van Wert, then on Saturday forenoon started to drive to the neighborhood of Round Knoll where they expected to visit with their son who was employed near there, and to hold services on Sunday. When about three miles out of town just at a turn in the road they met an automobile which frightened the horse It turned abruptly, throwing Mr. FISHER out of the buggy. The horse still ran until it reached its old home which was near the scene of the accident, but at the foot of a hill. Mrs. FISHER, who was standing in the buggy at this time, was thrown out, receiving a broken arm and a blow on the head which caused a concussion of the brain. The driver of the auto brought them into town in his car. The lady was taken immediately to the home of Mr. McMURTREY. A physician was called at once and all that loving hands and skill could do was done but she soon became unconscious and passed away in a couple of hours. Besides the heartbroken husband and son, who were here, she leaves four children, three of whom are married, and all living in Michigan. Mr. FISHER and son wished to have the interment near the old home so on Monday morning they departed for Michigan. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to them in this sad hour. It is a comfort to all to know that Mr. FISHER has the faith in One who has said "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
