ACCIDENTAL DEATH of JOHN FESLER

John FESLER, of Kellerton, was accidentally killed last week, while out hunting near Pine River, Minnesota, where he had been visiting relatives for about two months. The deceased was thirty-six years old and a single man. The remains were brought to Kellerton Monday morning. The funeral was conducted from the M.E. Church at two o'clock by Rev. G. W. MORLEY, After which interment was made in the Kellerton Cemetery. Besides his father, W. H. FESLER of Coon Rapids, Iowa, the deceased leaves six brothers; N. E. FESLER of Mount Ayr, Julius FESLER of Lamoni, and George, Roy, Lewis and Lawrence FESLER of Tuskeego. The following account of the accident is taken from the Pine River Sentinel [Minnesota] of Friday, January 13:

"John FESLER accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday afternoon between the hour of three and four o'clock. Mr. FESLER, who is from Iowa, has been visiting the TOLTZIEN family, in the vicinity of Horse Shoe Lake six miles northeast of here, and on the fatal day took his rifle and joined Hugo TOLTZIEN and John HUFFMAN on their trip to Blind Lake for a load of hay. In some unaccountable manner the gun fell from its position in FESLER's lap, the butt end striking the ground. He grabbed the muzzle and attempted to draw it into the sleigh, but the hammer caught in the running gear and the cartridge exploded burying the bullet in the breast of the unfortunate man, who died almost immediately."

"Coroner McDONALD, of Crow Wing County, came up Wednesday and held an inquest over the body, which was taken to Brainard by team yesterday, John HUFFMAN being in charge."
