OBITUARY - VIVIENE LOUISE (HOFF) FARMER, 81
Viviene L. FARMER, 81 of Boonville passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness,
on Friday, May 14, 2010.
Funeral services for Viviene will be held at the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church in Boonville at 11 a.m. on
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 with Pastor Elmer McCLAFLIN officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday
evening. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of the visitation. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery with
Viviene’s grandsons as pallbearers.
Viviene Louise FARMER was born in Kellerton, Iowa Nov. 23, 1928, the daughter of Byron James HOFF and Neva Belle HOFF.
She married Roger FARMER in Kellerton on Aug. 10, 1947 and they are the parents of four children.
Viviene and Roger moved to Boonville from Kansas City in 1962 when they purchased Hopper STANFIELD'S Grocery and became
Boonville United Super, later moving the business to the Temple Stevens building as United Super and more recently to the
Boonville IGA location. Viviene was very instrumental in the success of the business.
She had been a teacher in Iowa for several years and this resulted in a passion for reading and writing. She was a
talented author of short stories and poems. Besides her family, her life was dedicated to her work.
In her limited spare time she enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was a member of the Nelson Memorial United
Methodist Church in Boonville and member of Preceptor Laureate Beta Alpha a chapter of Betta Sigma Phi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Gene and Verlyn HOFF and Gail BEEDE. She is survived by her
husband Roger,of the home, her children, David FARMER of Dallas, Texas, Gregory and Richard FARMER of Boonville and
Jamie and husband Tim KENNEDY of Boonville.
Her grandchildren Chris (Christi) FARMER of Nixa, Mo., Ryan (Jen) FARMER of St. Louis, Justin (Becky) FARMER,of Kansas
City, Caleb FARMER, Parker NAGEL, Kendra FARMER, Adam and Amber KENNEDY of Boonville, and Gavin FARMER of Dallas, Texas,
also survive. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Landon, Finn, Meredith, Whitney and Adam FARMER.
Memorials are suggested to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
