The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1927

DEATH of J. CARL FARIS.

After lingering at the threshold of death for several days following a second surgical operation the death summons came to J. Carl FARIS at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon, May 31 [1927] at 2:30 o'clock. Mr. FARIS went the the hospital about four weeks ago and submitted to an operation for septicaemia. He passed through the operation apparently in fine shape and looked forward to being released from the hospital within a week or ten days, but at the end of that period he suffered a relapse and the second operation was necessary. Following the second operation he grew steadily weaker until his death.

Mr. FARIS' entire life was spent in Ringgold county and he was known as one of the county's best citizens. He was a successful farmer and took active interest in community affairs in Liberty township. Mr. FARIS was born November 5, 1889, and died May 31, 1927, aged 37 years, six months and 26 days. He is survived by his wife and four children, two sons and two daughters - Wilbur, Lyndon, Mary Louise and Roberta; his mother Mrs. Anna FARIS of Mount Ayr, other near relatives and friends who are numbered by his acquaintances.

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 at the home in Liberty township and will be conducted by Rev. Thomas, pastor of the M.E. church at Tingley.

NOTE: J. Carl FARIS was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. His father, James C. FARIS died on Febuary 6, 1916. Anna and J. Carl's son Wilber E. FARIS was born on July 26, 1911, and died on an unknown date. Their son Jacob Earle died of the measles. All were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery.
