OBITUARY - W. M. EWART

William Miller EWART, son of Ralph and Mary Ann [(ARMSTRONG)] EWART, was born in Greene County, Penn., on March 29, 1861, and departed this life on October 29, 1937, aged 76 years and 7 months.

He came with his parents to Iowa in 1876, settling near Maloy, Ringgold County, Iowa, where he resided years, then moved to Taylor County, where he spent the remainder of his life.

On February 5, 1883, he was united in marriage with Flora K. HICKENLOOPER [at Bedford IA] and to this union six children were born: Mrs. [Ethel] I. V[ane] WRIGHT of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. [Ruby Pearl] J[ay] S[tanley] TERRILL of Bedford; Mrs. [Gladys] Charles PETTIS of Grant City, Mo.; Mrs. [Garland] Paul Whitehead of Mound City, Mo.; Cecil EWART of Blockton, and Gweldon EWART of Des Moines, all of whom survive. Also a brother and sister survive---Frank EWART of Yuma, Colo., and Mrs. Hattie WRAY of Wiggins, Colo. Also four grandchildren --- Billy and Bunny EWART and Maxine and Dwight TERRILL. All of the children were privileged to be with him during the last weeks of his illness and at the time of his passing.

He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early manhood and maintained Christian virtues, which he practiced throughout life----hospitality, sympathy and aid to the needy.

He was patient, enduring without a murmur his long illness and suffering.

Funeral services were held at the Blockton Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. W. H. WARRIOR, and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton.

NOTE: Flora (HICKENLOOPER), wife of William Miller EWART, was born died April 23 1952 at her home in Bedford at the age of 87 years, nine months and 27 days. Flora and William celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary February 5, 1933. William and Flora had another grandchild, born after William's death, Michael EWART.
