MRS. EWART RITES AT BLOCKTON FRIDAY

Mrs. Flora EWART, a long-time resident of the Blockton community but of Bedford in recent years, died at her home here April 23 at the age of 87 years, nine months, 27 days.

Funeral services were held at the Blockton Methodist Church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ted J. MASTERS. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Blockton.

Flora K. HICKENLOOPER, daughter of Simon B. and Ann E[lizabeth (KING)] HICKENLOOPER, was born near Platteville, Iowa, June 26, 1864.

She was one of a family of nine children. One sister and four brothers survive, Mrs. Maude [Blanche] CHANEY, Nate [Nathan Oscar] HICKENLOOPER, Ernest HICKENLOOPER, George HICKENLOOPER and Dr. Carl HICKENLOOPER.

She spent her early childhood in Taylor County and received her education in Mormontown (present-day Blockton) public school and at the Bedford Normal School. She taught school in her home district and at Platteville.

She was a member of the Blockton Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

She was married to William M[iller] EWART at Bedford on February 5, 1883. To them six children were born, all of whom survive. There are four daughters, Ethel WRIGHT of Long Beach, Calif., Ruby [Pearl] TERRILL of Bedford, Gladys EWART and Garland EWART of Grant City, Mo.; two sons, Cecil EWART of Blockton and Gweldon EWART of Ollie, Iowa. There are also five grandchildren, Maxine and Dwight TERRILL, Billy and Bunny EWART, and Michael EWART.

Her husband preceded her in death on October 29, 1937. They lived to observe their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Feb. 5, 1933.

Mr. and Mrs. EWART established their home in the vicinity of Blockton where they lived happily together 52 years.
